×As our Collections grow, the selections of pictures will change - better shots will replace older ones especially in our loon, eagle, Mallard, swan and Osprey albums. They are favorite subjects although these change according to the regions we are visiting. I would like to encourage students who would like to use one or more of my photographs for a project to email me. This retired teacher has a big heart and loves to share with motivated kids!
I am grateful and lucky - enough - to live in both Key West, Florida and Maine on the water. Other months my residency in warmer climates in VA, NC and SC makes outdoor photography at lakes, ponds, rivers, swamps, parks, hydro plants and the Atlantic Ocean very comfortable. I routinely take 300-400 shots in one outing. Uploading, sorting and cropping hundreds of photos from camera to computer is a daily routine.
My collections of Gail Orndorf Photography in fauna, infauna, epifauna albums grew in just three years after retirement and an invitation to travel with my 1964 high school prom date! We are nature and eagle freaks and call our day trips "chasing eagles". Other fauna who come before us during the day trips provide "bonus" photo opportunities and reinforce our hikes and walks in search of eagles. As an established routine my photography would be a hard habit to break.
My point and shoot, Canon Powershot SX20 IS digital camera goes everywhere I go. My daughters don't like it pointed at them, my grandchildren at least oblige me, but all birds and animals let me snap at them with their permission, "catch me if you can". When I am aware and open to the bounty of what Mother Nature's heart is willing to show me, typically an animal or bird comes before me. Then I am challenged to position to get the proper light and focus, without moving too much to scare the subject. Good clean fun!
Proudly I announce that this webpage has been designed for me, mostly as a priceless gift, by one of my all-time favorite students, Jeremy Adams. He is family. I met him as a little guy in fourth grade. I knew he was brilliant and now he knows it too. He thinks "I can" and he does. Without reservation I recommend his company for your web page, media or graphic art dreams. He will help you make a dream come true, Go to rigsmedia.com and check him out!
My photographs are free for you to view. For your own use, they can be purchased in hard copy prints, digital prints, and note cards, individually or in sets. Options are listed under the large image previews in the gallery section of the site. Just press the, Purchase Options (Green) button.
